If it’s keeping active you’re after, there’s plenty to see and do in the Lockyer Valley…
The Country Challenge on Campus is a family fun day at the University of Queensland’s Gatton Campus. Held each October to coincide with Mental Health Week, the event raises funds for Beyond Blue.
The day includes a five kilometre fun run and walk (you can even bring along your pooch!) as well as a 10 kilometre twilight run for those up for a challenge.
Make the most of your time on Campus with a variety of fun activities for all the family, including an open air movie at the UQ Sport swimming pool after the race. Grab a bite to eat and relax on the lush green grass or chill out post-race with a relaxing dip in the pool!
Have you ever wondered who grows your food? Visit Bauer’s Organic Farm and you can not only purchase organic vegetables, but meet the farmer behind them too!
Meet and wander organic fields with farmer Rob Bauer, make sour dough, feed some animals, enjoy lavender scones on the lavender farm and much more. The trail is a unique day out full of wonderful experiences for the entire family. Follow the Facebook page www.facebook.com/FoodForagersTrail for updates and find out what is happening on the first Sunday of each month.
Once you’ve stocked your picnic basket, visit one of our local parks or bushwalk through Glen Rock Regional Park where you’ll enjoy exploring the basalt ridges and rainforest gorges of Glen Rock. Lockyer Valley encompasses wetlands, national parks and forest parks, all of which support a diverse range of wildlife, including more than 300 species of birds.
