Working as a Santa Character can be an immensely rewarding experience, providing the perfect opportunity for Aussie seniors to ‘unretire’.
Scene to Believe, Australia’s leading provider of Santa photography, is inviting Aussie seniors to unretire by donning the iconic red suit and becoming a Santa Character at their local shopping centre Santa photo set this festive season.
The opportunity of working as a Santa Character promises a rewarding experience by offering numerous benefits for seniors who wish to stay active, connected, and make a difference in their community while earning extra income during the festive season.
Why Seniors Should Consider Working as a Santa Character:
A Rewarding Experience
Working as a Santa Character can be an extremely fulfilling experience for seniors because of the
joy and happiness they can bring to children, families, but also themselves. As a Santa Character, seniors can make a positive impact on the lives of countless children by creating lasting magical memories. Seeing the smiles on children’s faces and the sparkle in their eyes as they share their Christmas wishes can make the Santa Character role a truly rewarding experience.
Stay Busy and Connected with the Community
Retirement doesn’t mean slowing down; it can be an exciting chance to explore new opportunities. Working as a Santa Character can keep seniors engaged, active, and socially connected with their local community. The role allows seniors to interact with people of all ages, fostering a sense of belonging and fulfilment.
“By embracing the role of Santa, seniors can find renewed purpose by bringing joy to people’s hearts during the most special time of the year”, says Viviana Diaz, Santa Manager at Scene to Believe,
“We believe that seniors have an incredible gift to offer. Their warmth, wisdom, and experience in caring for children are important skillsets for the Santa Character role. Our Santa photo sets are the perfect platform for seniors to continue to be involved and connected to their communities.”
Become Part of a Community of Local Santa Characters
Working as a Santa Character also gives seniors the opportunity to become part of Scene to Believe’s warm and welcoming Santa Character community. The community consists of hundreds of like-minded Santa Characters right across Australia and New Zealand who all share the same passion for spreading joy and happiness to children and families in their local communities.
Each year, Scene to Believe’s Santa Characters come together to celebrate Christmas in July at local ‘Jingle & Mingle’ events. While in October, the annual ‘Scene to Believe Santa School’ provides an opportunity for experienced and first-time Santa’s to brush up on their Santa skills.
“Being a Santa Character is more than just a part-time job”, says Viviana. “The community aspect of being able to share experiences, learn from each other, as well as the camaraderie with other Santa Characters adds an extra layer of fulfilment and social connection to the role.”
According to Tony Hooper, experienced Santa Character at Scene to Believe, “It’s not just a Santa Character role during the Christmas season. You can also become part of our welcoming Santa community. We all share the same love of Christmas and dedication to spreading joy and happiness. We all love making people happy and when we get together it’s all really good fun.”
Earn Money for the Holiday Season
Although working as a Santa Character is truly a labour of love, it is a paid role that can provide a valuable source of extra income. Seniors wishing to embrace the Santa Character role can earn extra income during the holiday season, a time when purse strings can become a little stretched.
“It’s a fantastic thing to be involved in. It’s a real joy”, says Mr Hooper. “It’s the only job I’ve ever done where I can get up in the morning and have a smile on my face and go to work and have an absolute ball and what’s more, get paid for it”.
How to Get Involved
Scene to Believe is inviting seniors from all walks of life and abilities to apply for the Santa Character role. Although Santa is traditionally renowned for his white beard, rosy cheeks, and large belly, applicants don’t need any of these physical attributes to work as a Santa Character. Scene to Believe offers comprehensive training and support to ensure all Santa Characters are fully prepared for their enchanting journey.
“We are looking for people who enjoy making people happy, love working with children and love Christmas”, says Viviana.
“You don’t need a beard and you don’t need to look like Santa. All you need is a big heart and a big smile, and we can look after everything else. We provide the suit, the accessories, the training – everything you’ll need to look like Santa and play the role of Santa”.
How To Apply
“We’ve made the Santa Character application process quick and easy. All you need to do to start the application process is send us an email, fill out an online form, or simply call our Santa Hotline on (02) 9054 2636”, says Viviana.
Applicants would ideally be available to work a flexible work schedule of around 24 hours a week during November and December. Applicants must also be willing to obtain a working with children check to be eligible for the position.
