If there’s one thing to tick off your bucket list, it’s the iconic Toyota Country Music Festival Tamworth. A week or two before it kicks off, the caravans start to trickle into the city; festival veterans snagging their spots.
Celebrating its 47th birthday in January 2019, this feast for the senses will be one not to miss. 10-days of non-stop free entertainment in the heart of the sweeping plains of the New England and North West, it’s a chance to meet and mingle with like-minded folk.
“It’s the largest musical celebration in Australia,” Tamworth Regional Council’s Festival and Events Manager Barry Harley said. “And the biggest country music festival in the Southern Hemisphere.” Over 300,000 visitors stream into the city for the celebration, with 700 artists performing at more than 2,800 events across 120 venues.
Cry and laugh alongside the bush poets and walk the streets to the songs of the buskers. Pack a picnic with the family and enjoy free concerts in Bicentennial Park under star-studded skies, and use Tamworth as a base to explore the surrounds; from the gold-mining village of Nundle in the high country to the shimmering expanse of Lake Keepit Holiday Park.
Whether it’s your annual pilgrimage or your first venture to the party of the year, there really is something for everyone.
